About Us

The band is made up of four old friends from school/college days, and collectively they have known each other for over 150 years! Neil, Kevin and James went to the same high school in Edinburgh, and Shona met Kevin and Neil in Aberdeen, where they were all studying in the early 90s. Kevin and Shona have been married since 1993.

Kevin
From Fife, has sung and performed since early childhood, making his debut at eight years of age in the ‘Singing Pub’ in County Donegal, Ireland. He started playing guitar at the age of 17, switching to bass guitar several years ago (as James is a better guitarist!). Kevin performs lead vocals in The Seratones. Kevin also works as a part-time celebrant, conducting marriage ceremonies.

Shona
From Shetland, has been singing and playing music since childhood, achieving ABRSM Grade 8 on clarinet and piano. In addition to performing, she is also a sought-after music tutor. She plays keys in the band, and shares lead vocal duties with Kevin.

James
also from Edinburgh has played guitar since his teens, having previously learned the cornet in primary school. He is equally at home on electric and acoustic guitar. James only sings if the lyrics are not in English!

Neil
From Edinburgh, started playing the guitar at age 10, and then took up drums at the age of 14. He sings backing vocals in the band, although he enjoys the occasional lead turn on the more raucous numbers!
